According to Microsoft, this month's NPD reports that the Xbox One was the best-selling console for the month of October in the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. This is the fourth month in a row that it has beaten the PlayStation 4 in the U.S. and the second month in a row that it has beaten its rival console from Sony in both the U.K. and Australia. Though the full NPD numbers aren't released yet, Microsoft has released a statement claiming the highest numbers for this month. The statement cites new game launches like Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 as contributing factors to the sales, as well as exceptionally strong Xbox Live numbers. Microsoft is reporting that the number of multiplayer gamers on Xbox Live has increased 52 percent over last year. Microsoft also says that Gears of War 4 was the highest-selling platform-exclusive title in the U.S. and U.K. last month, while Forza Horizon 3 has become the best-selling and highest-rated racing game of 2016.
